SplitTunes is an innovation in earphone usage! Have you ever shared earphones or earbuds with your friend and ended up arguing over what song to play? Well, earphones have 2 sides for a human's ears, but it would play one song for both sides. If you were to share it, unless the person who you are sharing with shares the same musical taste, both of you would probably end up having a hard time picking a song to satisfy both of you. SplitTunes breaks that barrier and lets you to play two different songs, one on each different side. Just pick a song, and you're on your own. (Remember, you would at least need earphones. Don't worry, SplitTunes works with all earphones with two ends.)
Your Choice or Your Friend's Choice?
Conflict resolved.... We all have our own "Favorite" playlists. Why not import them to SplitTunes? You can use SplitTunes just like an iPod. It's like having a separate iTunes library with the person that you are sharing earphones with. So, when a friend comes up asking to listen, feel free to share without any pressure because you can have different libraries playing. You could also set up a "Default Playlist" which would load up every time you launch SplitTunes. This could be your iTune Media File, or your personal playlist of choice. This could be configured in the Settings menu. (If a default playlist is not specified, SplitTunes will not load any music initially, and you would have to pick a file manually after the launch.)
Two Separate, but Equally Lovely User Interfaces
You are on your own.... SplitTunes must be run on a single computer, meaning that selecting or skipping a song requires two different user interfaces (there are two users!). So that's what we gave you! We created two different, separately functioning user interface(s). To play/pause/skip/play previous track, just hover on the album art and you will see the options. One person can be on the music library, the other can be on the player itself. So, you are literally "on your own". (We are planning for an update where it allows you to create a wireless connection so that the person that you are sharing the earphone with can control the player without touching your computer!)
